“It feels like home each time I come here. With just 2 visits under my belt – I’m just getting started!” – Jennifer Carr w/ Special Guests Melissa & Grace The Wonder Dog

Aug. 25, 2005

All of us had a great short holiday. The quietness and peacefulness of our surroundings contributed significantly to this. We have been several times to another “dog-friendly” resort but Lake Edge’s philosophy of “under control” over “leashed” ranks it much higher on our list of preferences. Dogs having fun, dogs meeting other dogs and sizing them up has been fun to see. Amber our younger Golden has perfected the art of flying off the dock & snatching balls –even of they are someone else’s. Even our “non-swimmer” other golden, Chelsea made it into the lake occasionally. Met nice people all with similar philosophies about pet ownership. Hope we see you again next season. Nancy & Louis, New Hamburg, ON

Aug. 1—7, 2005

We’re all packed up and ready to go; the time went surprisingly fast despite the slow pace of cottage life.   Charlie Brown will miss his buddies: Stella, Bella, Maddie, Oliver & Beans. We will miss watching them all cavort tirelessly on the lawn chasing their beloved balls. Relaxation is such a luxury these days so we feel very lucky to have achieved this altered state, no matter how fleeting it may be. Till next time, cottage #1! - Janice, Ian & Charlie Brown, Toronto, ON

May 30, 2004

We enjoyed our stay on your beautiful lake! What scenery—sunsets, moonshine on the lake...paradise! Bojangles and TayBear, our Newfies, love it too though Bo had to be hoisted up the stairs. No mean feat for 125 lb. of boy! Thank you for your hospitality. - Brian, Marion, TayBear & Bojangles, Maberly, ON

October 11—18, 2003

This is our 4th time here and enjoyed every minute. The weather was good for this time of year. We did a lot of traveling during our stay, slept a lot and got plenty of rest. - Bambina & Angelo, Orleans, ON

Aug. 17—24, 2003

Once again, great company, great weather, caught the big muskie on last full day here—the wait made it worthwhile. Really enjoy the peace & tranquility.—Bill & Jacquie, Kanata, ON

June 23—26, 2003

Peter & Pam, Thanks for a wonderful stay. We’ve had a great time. The weather has been fantastic. The days have been long (sun up 5:30 am, sun down 9:30 pm) and hot (35 C!). The wildlife is spectacular (blue heron, osprey, call of the loon). Had a near miss with a big muskie! Charlie has thoroughly enjoyed the water. He really appreciates your pet-friendly locale. You truly have a hidden gem in the Kawawrthas! Hope to see you soon! - Cam, Collen & Charlie

Cottage #6:

July 14 to 21, 2007

Our stay again went by way too quick. Another great way to spend a week vacation here at Lake Edge. The walks every morning to Young’s Point were a great way to start the day. The pontoon boat ride is highly recommended (bring your binoculars). The all around peace and quiet and friendly guests make it all worthwhile. Thanks again Peter & Pam for a great vacation. Steve, Kim & Blue – Etobicoke

Aug. 3, 2007

We all had a fantastic 5 days. Dwight & Alex caught lots of fish, we went through the lock 4 times, great swimming & snorkeling (we saw more fish than snorkeling in Mexico!). Alex made some fine new friends, and Jazz was in 7th heaven swimming & chasing squirrels and ranging out with her new doggie friends. Thanks for all your hospitality, Peter & Pam. You have a really special place here & we hope to be back next year if not sooner! Jill, Dwight, Alex & Jazz - Toronto

June 30 – July 7, 2006

Our first family vacation together. The peace and quiet and family quality time was priceless. Thanks for the photo “ops”, the yoga class, the great people and wonderful cottage. We hope to be back again. – Brent, Adrienne, Skylar & Remie

Labour Day Weekend 2004

Our time here was one, seamless string of peace, food, laughter and comfort. We love this cottage because of our beautiful view over the foliage and toward the lake...perfect for our morning coffee!

August 28 to September 3, 2004

We had a great time fishing & hiking & fishing! We caught tons of little perch, bass and sunfish that we put back but Kristina & Staphanie caught 2 keepers - 2 large small mouth bass. Next to Peter & Pam’s hospitality our biggest treat was enjoying Daisy’s first vacation. She loved the boats and went fishing and had to smell & lick each fish we caught. She even learned to swim! Love it! - Gail, Michael, Kristina, Stephanie & Daisy the Snoodle, Stoney Creek, ON

Cottage #7:

Sept. 21, 2007

Days spent bass fishing & throwing bumpers for the dog, evenings watching the stars come out, enjoying a glass (plastic of course!) of wine in the hot tub…it doesn’t get any better! Many thanks, Denis, Jackie and KC – Calgary, Alberta

Oct. 7 to 9, 2006

What a beautiful warm weekend we had to celebrate our 2nd year wedding anniversary. I’ve wanted to come to this cottage for a couple of years now & it was always booked in the summer. We lucked out with the fall. The trees were amazing when we walked through the back where the pond is. I caught about 10 small fish at the dock and gave them to a fellow cottager who ate them for breakfast the next morning. Our dog had an amazing time playing in the water & with her new doggie friends. This is exactly what we needed. Very private & peaceful & dog friendly. Thank you Peter & Pam!! Tammy, Darryl & Dakota - Brampton

July 6, 2006

We had a lovely 3 nights in cottage seven. All three of our children are at summer camp. We came here to take a break, and also bring our two dogs, Peggy 8.5 year old flat-coated retriever and 2 year old Logan, flat-coat also. The dogs loved the swimming! We like the hot tub! Thank you very much for a peaceful stay! Rena & Roger, Toronto

Sept. 9, 2005

What a great place to get away and relax. We really enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub at the end of a very relaxing slow paced day. The gate on the deck really caters to pet owners. Fro future renters I highly recommend Flannigan’s in Lakefield for amazing meat for the BBQ. Thanks for a great time! – Steve, Cath and Burly (Burmese Mtn Dog)

Aug. 27 – Sept. 3, 2005

We’re so glad we found the ad for Lake Edge Cottages in a pet magazine at our vet’s office. Sailor (our Newfoundland Dog) is eternally grateful for all the times he has been swimming while we have been here this week. Our three daughters have asked if we can come back next summer. They have enjoyed their independence & freedom here. Pam & Peter, you have truly made us feel very welcome. See you next summer! – Glenda, Dan, Tamara, Kassandra & Melissa & Sailor

Aug. 27/05

Fantastic Holiday! Loved watching the stars in the hot tub. Rylie is wondering if some monster lives in your lovely lake that enjoys eating her tennis balls. – Peggy, Alyssa & Riley dog.

July 2 – 9, 2005

Thank you Pam & Peter for a wonderful week! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and appreciate all the hard work you both have done to create this beautiful haven. Even though we are only from Peterborough it still feels 100 miles away from our usual life. The boys were quite thrilled to catch big fish this week and will certainly know the hot spots for when we return. We had a very relaxing week & the hot tub was the icing on the cake! Thanks again & we will return! Sue, Nick & Ben, Peterborough

Oct. 8 - 11, 2004

What a wonderful long weekend - no telephones (kept the cell phone off), no TV or newspapers. Jus the sound of fall - rustling birch leaves and chic-dee-dee-dees! Took advantage of the restaurants cooking dinner. Yeah! On our last evening it was cool, crisp and clear and Peter built a wonderful fire. Kim and I enjoyed our conversation with Peter & Pam as we watched the stars get brighter. I realize that is a lot hard work running your cottages but I do envy where you are. Its peaceful & beautiful. Thank you for your hospitality. P.S. Enjoyed reading The 100 Simple Secrets of Happy People - Kim, Nancy, Samantha, Preston, Abbey

July 3 - 9, 2004

What a wonderful relaxing week. Most of the time we didn’t go by our watch...we did what we wanted when we wanted. We slept in, ate a lot and played with our pup...Went our on the paddle boat row boat, took lots of pics on nature walks...and did I mention ate a lot? We even visited relatives down the road. The kids stayed with them for a morning so Mom & Dad could get a golf game in at Six Foot Bay (a narrow but very pretty course!). A few days were rainy so we took up a movie in Peterborough (Spiderman 2). The Warsaw Cave & Reptile Zoo were very cool. Thanks to Peter & Pam for their hospitality. The cottage was very neat & clean. Everything we needed was provided. - Deb, Darryl, Brooke & Trentin & Sport (9 month old labx)

Aug. 16 -Sept 6, 2003

We all fell in love with Lake Edge - can’t wait for next summer’s visit...the fishing, the boating, the walks, everything perfect. A wonderful combination of 40’s - 50’s cottage charm with the 21st century conveniences of coffee maker & microwave! So many lovely birds - blue jays, osprey, heron, colorful humming bird, Canada geese, red squirrels, black squirrels, chipmunks, frogs, snakes, turtles. I’ve noticed many people in this book have regretted they only had two weeks; four weeks has been perfect (1st week in Cottage 4) - time to really sink into the rhythms of country life. Thanks Peter & Pam! - Anne, Philadelphia, PA, USA

It's a Dog's Life Employee Getaway

October 2005

I've always wanted to treat my staff to a night away with our dogs as a thank you for all of their hard work in our doggy daycare. I had researched several places but found everything too expensive until I found Lake Edge Cottages. They seemed to offer what I was looking for at an affordable rate. They were a small place with cottages right on the water and they allowed the dogs to roam around their property leash-free. This was important to me because our dogs are used to being with each other off-leash. So I went to check them out personally in June and decided that they were the place for us. As soon as I got home I told my staff that I was taking them away for a night all expenses paid and they were very excited. They love to do anything they can that includes their dogs! So after a 4 hour hike in nearby Petroglyphs Provincial Park before arriving at the cottages, 11 people and 9 dogs needed a good dinner and some rest and relaxation. Lake Edge Cottages did not disappoint us. We barbequed dinner then some of us sat by the fire while others sat in the hot tub while others relaxed in the cottages. We found the cottages warm and cozy and the amenities met everyone’s needs.  And the dogs were happy because they got to run around the property and swim in the lake, even go boating! Pam and Peter were perfect hosts and we will definitely return to Lake Edge Cottages. – Cheryl Caswell, It’s A Dogs Life http://www.itsadogslife.ca/
